Are you ready to master the machines that keep our roads moving? The Truck and Transport Technician Diploma Program is your gateway to a high-demand career in servicing and repairing commercial transport vehicles.

This 2-year program begins with a common first year, giving you a strong foundation in mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques. From there, you’ll specialize in truck and transport systems, including engines, brakes, steering, and suspension.

Optional Co-op Work Placement
Gain real-world experience with an optional 22-week co-op placement, where you’ll work alongside industry professionals and apply your skills in a practical setting. This proven model, already successful in other ³ÉÈËÔ¼ÅÚÍøÕ¾ trades programs, enhances your employability and confidence.

Early Exit Certificate Option
Not ready to commit to the full diploma? After completing the first year, you can choose to exit early and receive a Heavy-Duty Equipment / Truck and Transport Repair Certificate—a credential that prepares you for entry-level roles or further apprenticeship opportunities 

Whether you’re aiming for a full diploma or a fast-track certificate, this program offers flexibility, hands-on learning, and a clear pathway to a rewarding career in the trades.


Duration

The requirements for this diploma program may be achieved within two academic years of full-time study.

    Career Possibilities

    Graduates of this program may be employed wherever heavy-duty equipment or commercial trucks are sold, serviced or repaired. This includes equipment dealers, garages, railways, provincial and municipal departments, and forestry, mining, agricultural and construction companies.  They may also be employed as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, Truck and Transport Service Technician, Logging Equipment technician, Mining Equipment technician, Diesel Mechanic, Farm Equipment technician, and Construction Equipment technician.



    Specific Considerations

    This occupation requires physical fitness and good coordination as climbing and lifting may be required. The hours of work may be irregular and may include weekends, and evenings when required.
